Seneca Sol

Seneca Sol is a luxury glamping resort on 15 private, wooded acres in Burdett, NY — tucked into a secluded forest setting one mile east of Seneca Lake and one mile west of the Finger Lakes National Forest. Established in 2015 and now cared for by on-site owners Rich and Vallerie, it's an easy, all-set-up way to sleep under the forest canopy without giving up a real bed, a hot shower, or morning coffee.

Choose a spacious, beautifully furnished safari tent with a private balcony, or settle into the Fox Den — a cozy hilltop studio suite with sweeping Seneca Lake views. Either way you're minutes from a dozen wineries, breweries, waterfalls, and great food, but you'll spend your evenings around a campfire with s'mores, at the shared outdoor kitchen with a glass of local wine, or watching the sunset from your deck.

Where You'll Sleep

Two ways to stay: the glamping resort's furnished safari tents in the woods, or the Fox Den studio suite perched above the lake.

A Real Glamping Escape

Guests come to glamp and leave already planning a return — large canvas tents with a king-size, very comfortable bed, everything clean and well maintained. Mornings mean homemade pastries and breakfast goodies; one rainy night, the hosts set out rain boots for everyone to borrow. Peaceful and quiet, yet only a few minutes from a dozen wineries.

Others describe it simply: super-comfortable tents, an immaculate shower room, delicious coffee, and a lovely campfire — true hospitality in the beautiful Finger Lakes.

Tips for Guests

  • Book direct by calling Rich & Vallerie at (607) 331-8351, or reserve any individual tent through its Airbnb listing.
  • Seneca Sol is seasonal — open roughly May through October. Plan fall visits early for peak foliage and sunset weekends.
  • Want power at your site? Ask for Cherry or Oak — they're the two tents with electric. Cherry and Oak also have heaters for cooler nights.
  • Traveling as a couple? The Fox Den studio suite, with its hilltop lake views, is the romantic pick; the tents are great for friends and families.
  • Pets are welcome at both the tents and Fox Den — just no pets sleeping on the beds, please.
  • You're minutes from Stonecat Cafe, Grist Iron, Lucky Hare, and a dozen wineries — but leave an evening free for the campfire and s'mores.
