The Inn Guest House

The Inn at Chateau LaFayette Reneau is a five-room guest house on the estate of one of Seneca Lake's most decorated wineries, in Hector, NY — about eight miles north of Watkins Glen on Route 414. Originally built in the early 1900s as the home of fruit farmer George Cortin, it was later restored into an inn along the wine trail, and today it's offered as a whole-house rental, booked by one group at a time so the entire place is yours.

Breathtaking panoramic views of the vineyards and Seneca Lake can be seen from every room, all five of which have private baths — three with large Jacuzzi tubs. Original woodwork and craftsman-style architecture give it a preserved, antique warmth, while a full kitchen, flat-screen TVs, air conditioning, and free Wi-Fi keep it comfortable and modern. And of course, the winery is right next door: as a guest, your tastings there are complimentary.

Whole-House OnlyThe Inn is rented to a single group at a time — not as individual rooms — so you'll have all five bedrooms, both Jacuzzis, and the wrap-around deck to yourselves.

The Two Guest Houses

The estate offers two distinct homes to rent — the five-bedroom farmhouse Inn and a three-bedroom French-inspired brick farmhouse, both set above the vineyards with sweeping Seneca Lake views. Book whichever suits your group.

Each of the five bedrooms has its own private bath and views of the vineyards and Seneca Lake; three feature large Jacuzzi tubs. There's a fully renovated kitchen with everything you need — plus a second refrigerator just for your wine — along with Smart TVs, in-room air conditioning, fresh linens, and Wi-Fi. The wrap-around deck facing the lake is the heart of the house: a gas barbeque, Adirondack chairs, and magnificent sunsets. Every stay comes with a complimentary bottle of wine and a local activities guide, and an Inn-exclusive catering menu can be pre-ordered for pickup or delivery.

The estate's second guest house is a classic red-brick farmhouse framed by blooming peony gardens and a white garden trellis. Its wrap-around deck is the showpiece — a French café-style bistro set perched high above the vineyards for some of the finest sunset views on Seneca Lake. Inside, wide-plank pine floors and antique furnishings, including a carved four-poster bed, carry the same preserved, comfortable character as the main Inn — with three bedrooms and two baths sleeping up to six. And like the Inn, it sits right on the winery estate with the same vineyard-and-lake panorama.

Room For Everyone

Guests describe a charming older house that's clean and comfortable, with enough space for a group of ten to spread out — and hot water that never runs cold. For one family's first-ever reunion, the five-bedroom, five-bath setting with its spectacular Seneca Lake view was, in their words, the perfect place, with all the amenities for a relaxing Finger Lakes vacation.

The recurring theme: the house is big, everyone gets their own bathroom, the views are amazing — and the winery right next door makes it hard to leave.

Tips for Guests

  • The Inn rents as a whole house to one group at a time and is booked via Airbnb — email info@clrwine.com or call (607) 546-2062 with any questions.
  • Room views vary: guests rate the Riesling room's lake view as the best in the house, so claim it early if the view is your priority.
  • Don't forget your tastings at the winery next door are free for Inn guests — build in time to walk over.
  • There's no cable — just Smart TVs and Wi-Fi, so bring your own streaming logins if you want to watch something.
  • Plan at least one evening around the wrap-around deck at sunset — Adirondack chairs, the gas grill, and the lake straight ahead.
  • You're central to Watkins Glen, Geneva, Ithaca, and Corning — an easy base for gorge hikes, more wineries, and glass-country day trips. Smith Memorial Park's lake access and boat launch are less than two miles north.
