414 Station Guest House

414 Station is a brand new two-unit guest house on Route 414 in Hector, sitting directly on the Seneca Lake Wine Trail. Each unit is a self-contained 1,040 square foot studio across two floors, with its own private entrance, a covered balcony, and two full bathrooms.

The layout works better than a typical studio because it's spread vertically. Downstairs holds the kitchen, dining table, living area with a queen sleeper sofa and smart TV, and a full bath. Upstairs is the queen bed, a leisure area, a second full bath, and the door out to the covered balcony. Two people get room to spread out; four fit comfortably.

The location is the real draw. Penguin Bay Winery, Lucky Hare Brewing, and Standing Stone Vineyards are all under a mile. Caywood Point and the Finger Lakes National Forest are two miles out, Lodi Point is eight, and Watkins Glen is a thirteen-mile run south. You can walk to a tasting room and drive ten minutes to the gorge.

Guests consistently mention the same things: how clean and new everything is, how well stocked the kitchen comes, the welcome snacks and wine, and how quickly Gail responds when something's needed.

🚉 Brand New Build — purpose-built as a two-unit guest house with mini-split heating and cooling, modern finishes, and a private entrance for each side.

Both units are studios rather than separate bedrooms — a queen bed upstairs and a queen sleeper sofa downstairs. Maximum occupancy is four guests per unit, not including infants. Stairs are required to reach the second floor and the balcony. Pets are not permitted. Rates vary by season and dates; check the booking links for current pricing.

How the Space Works

First floor — kitchen with stove, oven, refrigerator, microwave, toaster and electric kettle; a dining table with dishware and flatware provided; a living area with a queen sleeper sofa and smart TV; and a full bathroom with shower.

Second floor — the queen bed, a separate leisure area, a second full bathroom with shower and towels provided, and the door out to the covered balcony.

Mini-split units handle heating and cooling on both levels. WiFi runs throughout and the space is set up to work from if you need to. Parking is a private driveway with room for two vehicles.

Inside the Guest House

Granite counters, subway tile, wide-plank floors, and a mini-split on every level. The finishes are new throughout and the upstairs rooms sit under the pitch of the roof.

Our Story

414 Station solves a specific problem on the east shore. There's no shortage of places to stay around Seneca Lake, but there's very little that's brand new, genuinely private, and close enough to the tasting rooms that you can leave the car parked. This is that.

Two units, four guests each, or eight if you take the whole thing. Every review says the same three things — spotless, well stocked, and Gail is responsive. The welcome wine and snacks come up almost every time too. It's a small operation run carefully, and it shows.

Tips for Guests

  • Guests who've stayed in both tend to prefer the west unit — it sits back from Route 414 and has the partial lake view.
  • Three tasting rooms are under a mile. Plan at least one afternoon where you leave the car in the driveway.
  • The bed, second bath, and balcony are all on the second floor and stairs are required — worth knowing if anyone in your party has mobility concerns.
  • These are studios, not two-bedroom units. Four guests works, but the second sleeping space is the downstairs sleeper sofa.
  • Traveling with a bigger group? Book both units and you've got the whole property for eight.
  • Watkins Glen is thirteen miles south and the Finger Lakes National Forest is two miles out — easy to fit a gorge morning and a wine afternoon into one day.
